BMW 303 an 1933-1934

In 1933, BMW a prezentat BMW 303 care a marcat începutul unei tradiții glorioase și de lunga durata, anume cea a motoarelor cu sase cilindrii în linie. 303 a fost primul automobil pe care distinsul calandru BMW, binecunoscut noua azi, a fost folosit: grila-rinichi. Nou dezvoltatul motor de 1,2 litri, cu sase cilindrii în linie s-a dovedit a fi foarte silențios dar și foarte sprinten și dezvolta un maximum de 30 CP, ceea ce făcea ca modelul cu patru locuri sa atingă chiar și 90 km/h.
BMW 303 a fost, de asemenea, primul BMW care dispunea de un motor in linie-6.M78 cu sase cilindri 1182cc.
